Is Curaçao Safe? Travel + Leisure Says Yes
Travel + Leisure calls Curaçao one of the safest Caribbean islands right now. Read the article, then see Willemstad with a local on a scooter tour.
Is Curaçao Safe? Travel + Leisure Weighs In
If you're planning a trip, safety is probably one of the first things you check. Fair enough.
Travel + Leisure just published a piece by By Michael Cappetta on exactly that, and it's a good read: This Caribbean Island Is One of the Safest to Visit Right Now (https://www.travelandleisure.com/curacao-safety-and-travel-advisory-explained-11934599).
What caught my eye
- The US State Department has Curaçao at Level 1, its lowest travel advisory.
- The island sits below the hurricane belt, so storms are not the worry they are elsewhere in the Caribbean.
- More than 1.7 million travelers visited last year, up 9 percent from the year before.
- Willemstad is UNESCO-listed, and there are 35 beaches to choose from.
A local's note
I grew up in Willemstad and I'm out on these streets every day. Like anywhere, use common sense. Don't leave valuables out in the open and keep an eye on your bag. Do that and you can relax and enjoy the island.
Read the full article, then come see the real Willemstad with someone who knows it. Punda, Otrobanda, the murals, the hidden corners, all on a scooter.
Book a tour or message me if you have questions before you come.
